Farranree students take Time to Count
Who said learning can’t be fun?
Third class pupils at Scoil Aiséirí Chríost in Farranree played games and had fun while improving their maths skills through a ten-week programme of specially designed numeracy and activities which was delivered by employees from utility, Gas Networks Ireland.
A Business in the Community Ireland (BITCI) initiative, the Time to Count programme fosters student’s confidence around numeracy and mathematical problem-solving skills which play a vital role in their overall growth and development.
To mark the completion of the programme, the students were invited to Gas Networks Ireland‘s headquarters in Cork to find out more on what the national utility does.
Speaking as they concluded the visit with a nature walk through Gas Networks Ireland’s biodiversity rich garden, Scoil Aiséirí Chríost’s Home School Community Liaison, Tara O'Sullivan said:
“We are thrilled to be part of the Time to Count programme and witness the positive impact it has on the students. The students engage better when learning is made fun and the site visit is a highlight of the Time to Count programme for the students, it is a great day out for all and a wonderful way to end off the programme.”
After an exciting and educational tour of the property the onsite canteen prepared a special lunch, and each child was presented with a Time to Count participation certificate as a token of their accomplishment.
