Natural Gas Emergency Plan (NGEP)

The Natural Gas Emergency Plan (NGEP) has been prepared by Gaslink in accordance with the requirements of the Gas (Interim) (Regulations) Act 2002 and Statutory Instrument 697 of 2007.  The scope of the NGEP covers the two elements of emergency arrangements, emergency planning and operational response.  The operational response to a gas supply emergency is led by the NGEM in accordance with the NGEP.

 The Natural Gas Emergency Plan document also provides information on each of the following:

  • Structure of the NGEM
  • Gives an overview of the gas industry in Ireland
  • Monitoring of the gas network
  • Management of gas flows within the network
  • Criteria for initiating a Gas Supply Emergency
  • Emergency steps to be taken in advance of, during and after the occurrence of a Gas Supply Emergency
