Getting Connected

Gaslink is responsible for the management and operation of the Connections Policy for all end users. There are two distinct customer types considered under the Connections Policy:

1. Industrial and Commercial Customer Types (I&C)

There are three kinds of I&C customers that are considered:

Large I&C customers:

These are defined as loads with both annual consumption of greater than 260GWh and a connection pressure of 16barg or above.

Medium and Small I&C customers:

These are defined as commercial enterprises who are not Large I&C customers, but whose primary use of gas is non-domestic.

Institutional I&C customers:

These are defined as customers who are not domestic but who, as a result of the load characteristics, are likely to remain connected to the network for a longer period of time than a typical commercial enterprise. Examples of such customers might include schools, hospitals and prisons.

2. Domestic Customers

This type of customer is defined as those whose primary use of gas is domestic

Gaslink is focused on assisting Large Industrial and Commercial (I&C) connections to the transmission system. If you are interested in connecting to the network, and are defined as a large I&C customer, please click here for information on how to get connected.
